Pose'Em
A local 2 player controller battle where you and your friend try to counter an AI wrestlers poses first!
If you counter the AI’s poses correctly before your friend, you win the round!
Alongside 4 others, we created a reflex based wrestling pose minigame. Created within Monogame, this quick time local party game utilizes a fair amount of technical setup for the controller input to pose correctly. Memorization, reflexes, and tactile familiarity are all skills put to the test in this battle between yourself and a friend.

The main gameplay of Pose'Em is centered around matching the wrestler on stages poses correctly first
A wrestler will come out onto the stage and pose either 1, 3 or 5 times in a row. The player then needs to remember the sequence of poses and correctly pose before the other player does.
A lot of work went into getting these poses to react to the players input on the controller. The difficulty in showcasing what needed to be done, and onboarding the player to the pose selection and how to pose was a task I tackled.
By having during gameplay the correct controller joystick direction, we were able to quickly show players which set of inputs did what. Then we could rely on them to memorize and challenge themselves and their opponent to correctly input faster.
I also color coded each pose to reinforce the quick memory of each pose, after playtests people would come away and reference the color that needed to be input over the pose itself.
