Bouncy Bot
Bouncy Bot is a pinball-esque drag and shoot puzzle game.
Guide a robot through lasers and other dangers to the end of each level. But the bot's busted and can only stop its thrusters by hitting a wall, sending it bouncing around.
In this project created in Unity, our team of 6 wanted to attempt to create a hybrid of pinball and a platformer-puzzle game. By attaching life value to how many clicks players took to completing the levels and game, we also instituted a high score for themselves to beat each playthrough. In many ways this incorporated golf into the mix as well.
Roles on Project: Lead Game Designer and Lead Level Designer
Game and Level Design
Having ownership of 3 of the 5 levels, and overseeing creation of the other 2, each level had an increase of difficulty associated with it
The intent of each level was to have the player balance the want players had to go as far as possible on each click, and a want for them to stop a moment and consider the surrounding obstacles. These are the mechanics implemented to reinforce the idea of free flowing movement and bounciness we intended to achieve
-
Zero gravity on initial release
-
On every wall hit increase slowdown until fully stopped
-
-
Environmental objects that would be sticky and create "safe zones" during a section
-
Multiple checkpoints and pickups to add extra clicks for the player
-
Hazardous objects to have the player plan out a route
